Director, Digital Strategy & Marcom

ERB is a not-for-profit educational advisory group that provides educators and families with a more complete understanding of the whole student through the use of quality assessment tools. K-12 schools around the world rely on ERB to provide them with an integrated suite of assessments, insights, and analytics that track the complete student journey--assessing academic ability, learning achievement, and social and emotional learning competencies.
Position Summary
The key focus of the position is to increase usage of ERB programs and services, retain membership and gain market share by promoting ERB’s unique brand, position, and value proposition in the education space. The Director of Digital Strategy and Marketing Communications leads the creation of new approaches to reach current and potential members, and translates ERB’s services into cohesive and powerful messaging. The Director of Digital Strategy and Marketing Communications is responsible for the conception, development, and implementation of all digital marketing initiatives in alignment with ERB’s mission, vision, and brand value. The Director will build and implement an integrated strategic communications framework related to ERB initiatives, strategy, and long-term vision that apply creative tactics across a variety of external and internal communication.
The role requires strong collaboration with the Chief Revenue Officer to devise and implement communication strategies and programs to drive demand for both existing and new products. In addition, the Director of Digital Strategy and Marketing Communications will work closely with the Chief Revenue Officer to develop the digital marketing strategies that drive greater brand awareness within our member community and in support of our acquisition strategy to retain and grow the member base.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
  • Manage the marketing communications and digital marketing for all ERB products (ISEE, CTP/Milestones, ERB Writing Practice, 360 Data Reporting Platform), etc.
  • Develop, execute and monitor data-driven digital and multi-channel marketing strategies, including targeting, messaging, content, channel, and measurement.
  • Define marketing performance modeling, KPIs, benchmarking and measurement strategy, based on engagement data and analytics to optimize media engagement and spend.
  • Manage third-party relationships to ensure all data, analytics, and activation requirements are documented and communicated to ensure measurement and activation outcomes are achieved.
  • Oversee the development of videos, infographics, podcasts, publications, white papers, reports, and other assets which serve to educate and positively influence the target market regarding ERB’s unique and important value proposition.
  • Ensure adherence to the ERB brand and professionalism in all forms of marketing.
  • Articulate ERB’s brand, services, and program offerings with clarity, coherence, and passion.
  • Serve as a key player in the implementation of Marketing Cloud.
  • Optimize digital communications for use across all devices and platforms and incorporate best practices, cutting-edge techniques, and interactive assets.
  • Supervise a full-time graphics designer.
Ideal Experience
  • B.A. degree or higher in marketing, communications, or business
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in marketing communications
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in digital marketing
  • Proven performance record of initiating and implementing successful digital marketing strategies
  • Data analysis, manipulation, visualization and media metrics expertise
  • General knowledge of data enablement (i.e. marketing stack) platforms
  • Media experience strongly desired
  • Industry background in the education sector (K-12 or post-secondary)
  • Strong analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills
  • Collaborative, team player
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills

  • Passionate about identifying and solving problems with the ability to uncover business needs
  • Detail-oriented, self-starter with the ability to provide a customer-centric approach
