Director or Senior Director, ISEE Program

Location: Ideally New York City Midtown ERB Office

ERB is a not-for-profit educational advisory group that provides educators and families with a more complete understanding of the whole student through the use of quality assessment tools.  K-12 schools around the world rely on ERB to provide them with an integrated suite of assessments, insights, and analytics that track the complete student journey--assessing academic ability, learning achievement, and social and emotional learning competencies.
Position Summary
The Director/Senior Director, ISEE Program is the Program Direction lead for the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE).  This person manages the existing program, product development roadmap, research agenda, and test development aspects of the ISEE under the supervision of the Chief Program Officer.  The role involves collaborating across the organization to specify the solutions to be built, explain how these solutions solve user problems, and ultimately help members adopt programming to extract maximal value from our system.  This person helps manage multiple vendors and works directly with the Senior Director of Admission Programs to gather feedback from and present new features and benefits to member schools.  Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience.
Major Responsibilities
The major responsibilities are organized into three areas:
Program Management
  • Operate as a key member of ERB’s Program Direction leadership.
  • Work with members of ERB’s senior management team to refine the business strategy for the ISEE and independent school admissions.
  • Represent program priorities to operational vendors and internal technology and operations units; make decisions that reflect these priorities.
  • Manage work plans with vendors to ensure that deliverables meet specifications, are delivered on-time, approved for release, and do not exceed contractual terms; work with internal marketing communications units to promote and guide users with implementing new features.
  • Work with the Director of ISEE Policy and Implementation to establish policies and procedures for the ISEE and ensure that decisions are made consistently; collaborate to identify, define, and manage the development of accommodations for students with disabilities.
  • Work with the Customer Service Manager and Senior Director of Admission Programs to support responses to escalated calls and emails from families and ERB member schools.
  • Collaborate with internal marketing communications units to proactively communicate information about product launches and enhancements.
Product Development
  • Embrace a creative spirit to solve customer problems with product innovations that leverage ERB's history and distinctive competence.
  • Collaborate with members of the ERB team to evaluate potential market opportunities and make the case for potential investments.
  • Define and prioritize requirements for ERB’s test registration, score reporting system, and/or microsites so that appropriate features can be built; lead annual planning activities to identify product needs and priorities based on stakeholder feedback.
  • Ensure that all departments are prepared for new product releases and all items required for a successful launch are completed.
Research and Test Development
  • Work with the Chief Program Officer to oversee the test development and psychometric work conducted by ERB vendors; oversee internal and external reviews of test content.
  • Help identify and conduct the research studies that will provide efficacy evidence and ensure compliance with professional standards.
  • Utilize input from the Technical Advisory Committee to implement cutting edge technical advancements, including new DEIJ related techniques.
  • Serve as a core member of the cross-organizational team responsible for redesigning and bringing to market a new edition of the ISEE.
Ideal Experience
Ideally, the successful candidate will have experience managing programs, developing products, and working with research and development teams, especially in an educational technology setting, as well as:
  • 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience
  • B.A. or higher in the social sciences, business, engineering, or statistics
  • Deep understanding of educational assessment
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong ability to anticipate and analyze problems, and create innovative solutions
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, time management, and prioritization skills
  • Excellent ability to listen, communicate, and collaborate with colleagues
  • Poise and professionalism under pressure during busy testing seasons
  • Ethical conduct in all things
