Milestones Assessments

For Grades 3-8

Today's classrooms don't need more testing, they need more meaningful testing. That’s why we designed Milestones Assessments to provide a quick way to administer a formative evaluation.

Milestones offer educators regular, short assessment touchpoints across each school year to provide the real-time data that educators need to guide instruction and design learning interventions without occupying a lot of valuable classroom time. Because testing schedules should work around classroom needs, not vice versa.

Meet Milestones from ERB

Milestones Assessments for students in Grades 3-8 cover Reading Comprehension and Mathematics, and are an extension of our time-tested Comprehensive Testing Program (CTP), offering educators consistency, flexibility, and timeliness.

Consistency

Leverages the CTP independent school vertical scores, norms, and standards many schools already use for enhanced validity and familiar score interpretation.

Flexibility

Reading and math tests administered in 40-minute modules per subject can be administered at various points during the school year—whenever works best for each classroom.

Timeliness

A new intuitive online portal provides educators access to student data in real-time, making it easier than ever to not only track student progress, but also meaningfully use your assessment data.

Teaching Virtually?

Milestones Assessments can be securely administered in-school or to students remotely at home. Connect with us using the link below if you are interested in at-home testing for CTP or Milestones. We're here to help!

Milestones cover Mathematics and Reading Comprehension
Why? Because ERB members told us these were the subject areas most important to them for a formative assessment. The CTP provides our full battery of subtests; Milestones were designed to be agile yet powerful to keep educators and families informed and classrooms moving forward.
Administered online for speed and ease of use
Milestones were designed for the 21st century classroom. Subtests only take 40 minutes to complete, and scores are returned within 24-48 hours. Going digital makes this speed possible. Paper tests take longer to complete (more work for students) and longer to score (more work for us). No thank you!
Can be used with or without CTP
Milestones were designed as a complement to CTP to track student progress leading up to or coming out of that summative assessment. But for schools that prefer not to test the full CTP, you do have the flexibility to use the shorter Milestones multiple times across the year.
Designed for classroom or at-home testing
Milestones Assessments can be administered in-school or to students remotely, with easy check-in procedures and flexible scheduling options. Students can test individually or in groups, at the same time or on different days.
"The current state of educational technology allows for more frequent assessment touchpoints, which creates a better system for understanding student achievement and taking timely action to address their academic needs.”

—Tom Rochon, President, ERB

Testing Seasons

Milestones offers administration options across three testing seasons.

ERB schedules brief black-out periods to implement software releases and other updates. During blackout periods, schools will not be able to administer Milestones Assessments.

So I've done the testing.

What do I do with all of my assessment data?

Meet ERB 360 Access

Dynamic data exploration for the modern educator.

With ERB 360 Access, educators administering CTP or Milestones Assessments have a powerful new tool for turning assessment data into actionable insights. Our intuitive platform makes it easy to customize a range of reports in seconds. More important, our graphic interface makes it simple for anyone to make meaning of their assessment data–no advanced statistics required. In ERB 360 Access, educators can quickly:
Compare student performance against other students of interest (multiple available norm groups).
Track learning progress over time.
Analyze individual student and group performance.
Identify learning gaps on specific content strands and domain areas.

And soon, we'll even be able to predict student performance. Let's measure better, together.

A better way to measure student progress.

Testing Options

CTP

Once A Year

CTP is administered once a year, as a formative assessment given in the Fall or as a summative assessment given in the Spring. Your school decides the season in which to administer CTP. It can be administered as a standalone assessment or combined with Milestones Assessments to provide a total of three data points across the school year.

Milestones

Up To Three Times A Year

Milestones are administered a maximum of three times a year when used as a standalone assessment—in the Fall, Winter, and Spring. When paired with CTP, Milestones are administered twice a year in the Fall and Winter or in the Spring and Winter.
